Padabhyanga is a massage of the feet and lower legs with warm oil or ghee, often using a Kansa (bronze) bowl and pressure on foot marma points.
Ayurveda says regular foot massage keeps the feet strong, calms Vata and supports sleep and eyesight.
How Padabhyanga is done
- Feet washed with warm water.
- Warm oil applied to the feet and lower legs.
- Massage with marma pressure and Kansa bowl.
- Wipe and rest.
Who Padabhyanga may suit
May suit tired or aching feet, cracked heels, burning feet, poor sleep and people standing for long hours.
Precautions before Padabhyanga
- Not on foot wounds or active fungal infection; diabetic feet need doctor review first.
- Tell the doctor about any medicines you take, pregnancy, recent illness, high blood pressure, heart or kidney problems before the therapy. Do not stop any prescribed medicine on your own.
Padabhyanga in Varanasi at Aarogyam Shri Ayurveda
Padabhyanga at our Varanasi (Banaras) clinic is done by trained therapists under the supervision of an Ayurveda doctor, who first checks your Prakriti, current health and reports. The doctor then decides the oils or medicines, the number of sittings and the diet to follow during the course.
