Sciatica and back pain care in Varanasi
Sciatica often causes pain travelling from the lower back or buttock into a leg, sometimes with tingling or numbness. Not all back pain is sciatica. Ayurveda uses the term Gridhrasi for a related symptom pattern; a neurological assessment remains important.
Assessment before therapy
Tell the clinician about weakness, walking difficulty, previous injury and any scans. Imaging is selected according to findings rather than required for every episode. A spine specialist or physiotherapist may be needed.
Planning supportive care
At Aarogyam Shri Ayurveda, discuss daily activity, work posture and whether external therapies such as Kati Basti are suitable. These aim at comfort where appropriate; they cannot promise to put a disc back or reverse nerve compression. Keep movement and rehabilitation coordinated with your treating clinician and avoid prolonged bed rest unless specifically advised.
Ask about heat and skin precautions, medicine interactions and how walking, pain and function will be monitored. Avoid forceful massage or manipulation where the diagnosis is unclear.
Emergency warning signs
New bladder or bowel-control problems, numbness around the genitals or anus, symptoms in both legs or rapidly worsening weakness need emergency hospital assessment. Do not wait for massage or an Ayurveda consultation.
