Griva Basti is the neck (Griva) version of Kati Basti. A dough ring on the back of the neck holds warm medicated oil for 30–40 minutes, followed by massage of the neck and shoulders.
Cervical pain and stiffness are mostly Vata conditions, often worsened by poor posture and long hours at a desk or phone.
How Griva Basti is done
- Doctor examination and review of X-ray or MRI.
- Dough ring fixed on the cervical spine while you lie face down.
- Warm medicated oil kept in place for 30–40 minutes.
- Neck and shoulder massage and local steam.
- Posture and neck-exercise guidance.
Who Griva Basti may suit
Griva Basti may suit cervical spondylosis, neck pain and stiffness, shoulder tightness, and neck-related headache.
Precautions before Griva Basti
- Arm weakness, numbness or dizziness need medical evaluation first.
- Tell the doctor about any medicines you take, pregnancy, recent illness, high blood pressure, heart or kidney problems before the therapy. Do not stop any prescribed medicine on your own.
