Preparation for a traditional Ayurvedic procedure should come from the clinician who has assessed you. It should not be copied from another patient or an online detox challenge. Before the first session, make sure you understand the instructions, their purpose and what to do if your health changes.
1. Confirm your health information
Update the team about recent fever, infection, surgery, new medicines or a change in diagnosis. Tell them about allergies and earlier reactions to oils or herbal products. A plan made weeks ago may need review if your circumstances have changed.
2. Get food and medicine instructions in writing
Ask whether any eating or drinking instructions apply to the specific procedure. Do not fast, stop diabetes medicine or change blood pressure treatment on your own. If instructions conflict with advice from another treating doctor, ask both clinicians to resolve the difference before the session.
3. Organise the day around the session
Confirm arrival time, clothing suggestions, session duration and whether someone should accompany you. Ask if you can return to work or drive afterwards. Arrange travel according to the actual advice rather than assuming you will feel the same after every procedure.
4. Know when to pause
If you develop new symptoms, contact the clinician before attending. Ask which symptoms require postponement or urgent assessment. Keep the centre contact details and your regular prescriptions available. Preparation should make care safer and clearer; it should never pressure you to continue when you feel unwell.
Before your appointment
Write down your main concern and when it started.
Keep recent reports and all medicine or supplement names ready.
Ask what the next step is and when the plan will be reviewed.
This guide is general patient information. It cannot diagnose your condition or decide which medicine or procedure is suitable for you.
